Strafford Organic Creamery

January 23, 2013

It’s amazing that Amy and Earl of Strafford Organic Creamery have time for anything other than their busy dairy business and four boys, but their latest endeavor gives “value added” a whole new meaning. We all know Strafford Organic Creamery for their glass bottles of high quality, minimally processed, beautiful milk and their simply delicious pints of ice cream. Their product stands out on any dairy shelf.

But what’s exciting on the farm right now?
Cross-country skiing!

Now you can experience the farm in a whole new and fun way -- from a pair of cross-country skis! This winter the Strafford Nordic Center opened for a second, busy season. The Nordic Center is the brainchild of Earl and two of his childhood friends, one of whom was on the US Nordic Ski Team. The farm has ideal cross-country conditions with varying terrain and snow accumulation even during last years’ dry winter. As Amy explains, “the interface between the farm, animals, and skiers has been really nice and having partners that understand that the farm comes first is crucial. If the cows get loose, we lock the register and leave!” You can see their majestic Guernsey cows from the trails weaving around the farm and when you’re done with your winter adventure, enjoy Strafford Organic Creamery’s renowned chocolate milk at the lodge.
