Hen of the Wood and Hotel Vermont at the Beard House!April 10, 2015
The James Beard Award is one of the, if not the, most prestigious award in America's culinary world and a trip to New York to cook at the Beard House is an honor most chefs dream about. Vermont has sent forth a handful of our fabulous chefs to the House, like Chef Wesley Genovart of SoLo Farm and Table, Chef Jason Tostrup of Epic, Chef Lee Duberman of Ariel's, Chef Rogan Lechthaler of the Downtown Grocery, Chefs Steve and Lara Atkins of Kitchen Table Bistro and Chef Robert Barral of Cafe Provence, among others. On April 10th, friends and colleagues Chef Doug Paine of Bleu Northeast Seafood and Juniper Bar and Restaurant and Chef Eric Warnstedt of Hen of the Wood will share their unique and exquisite take on Vermont cuisine. Not only is this an opportunity for the chefs to do what they do best, but also to highlight their favorite Vermont producers like Maple Wind Farm, La Garagista, Jasper Hill, Jericho Settlers Farm, Citizen Cider, The Alchemist, Half Pint Farm, Caledonia Spirits, Grafton Cheese--even Lake Champlain perch is on the menu!
What are the chefs saying about this opportunity?
"I remember just starting out as a chef looking through the James Beard magazine and reading about the chefs going to cook there. I would go through their menus to get ideas about things I could try to make. I am honored to be cooking there. It really will be a special evening and everyone at Hotel Vermont is very exited to showcase the best food and drink Vermont has to offer." Chef Doug Paine, Hotel Vermont.
"The Beard House is sacred ground, and cooking there is sort of a rite of passage. It's the real heart of modern American food. Bringing VT to NYC gives us the opportunity to show off what makes VT so special," Chef Eric Warnstedt, Hen of the Wood.
