"Each spring I wait patiently for new potatoes, baby bok choy, and edible flowers. August never comes soon enough with the twenty variety of heirloom tomatoes that Emmett at Anjali Farmers grows," states Amy Chamberlain, chef-owner of The Perfect Wife restaurant, who will be hosting a farmers dinner this September.

The farmers' dinners bring people closer to the wonderful food sources available in Vermont. The dinners confirm Wendell Berry's dictum that eating is an agricultural act. Those attending the dinners benefit first from a delicious meal made from local foods and from meeting the farmers and growers. The support of the diners allows farmers, growers and chefs to offer the best and freshest food available, in some cases with the food arriving at the table hours after harvest. These partnerships help to create a future in Vermont that includes a viable and diversified farm economy.

As Christopher Kimball, founder and editor of Cook's Illustrated magazine and host of America's Test Kitchen says, "The American food revolution has finally arrived. The pioneers are small, often family-owned farms dedicated to producing the highest quality foods. Join the Vermont Fresh Network [to] support the farmers."
