Report from the VFN Board of Directors (Jed Davis, The Farmhouse Group, Chair of the Board)

11:20 - 12:50 Marketing Beyond Vermont: How initiatives to reach new audiences draw visitors to explore Vermont food and our working landscape.
Panel (30 Minutes) providing an overview of current and planned statewide initiatives in this field, as well as examples of what works: Susan Miller (Baking School Director, King Arthur Flour), Lisa Chase (Farm-to-Plate Agritourism Task Force & UVM Extension), Hilary DelRoss (VT Dept. of Tourism & Marketing), Mara Welton (Slow Food Vermont). Moderator: Helen Labun (VFN & DigInVT)
Following the panel, there will be small group discussions with the panelists to go into more detail on tools available for marketing beyond Vermont and examples of successful initiatives (60 minutes).

1:30 - 2:35 Workforce Development: Many organizations will be focused on Vermont’s workforce development needs in 2018, this panel and extended discussion will look at what VFN members are seeing in their work, what impact existing initiatives are having, and where the food sector fits into workforce development plans.
Panel (45 minutes): Sarah Buxton (Director of Workforce Policy & Performance at the VT Dept. of Labor), Lynn Coale (Executive Director of ACORN, formerly Director of the Hannaford Career Center), Rep. Tristan Toleno (State Representative for Brattleboro), Jolinda LaClair (Director, Drug Prevention Policy). Moderator: Liz Schlegel (Alchemist Foundation).
