Of Land and Local Art Exhibit and Speaker Series

October 9, 2014

Of Land and Local is a multidisciplinary, state-wide exhibition designed to initiate a dialogue about issues surrounding the Vermont landscape.  Vermonters' shared history in land and our pride for the local lay the groundwork for this annual exhibition. There are exhibitions in five locations throughout the state. Opportunities to critically engage with contemporary artwork as it reflects on and exists within the Vermont landscape will offer viewers the chance to contemplate the significance and strength, as well as the vulnerability and fragility of our surroundings.

Vermont Fresh Network in partnership with Lake Champlain International, will take the stage at the Shelburne Farms Coach Barn on October 25th to share in our work to get more Lake Champlain Fish on restaurant menus across Vermont. Hear the history of the Lake's abundant fisheries, and the barriers in the way of sustaining them. Accompanying this exploration of the Lake as a food source, two acclaimed chefs: Chef Doug Paine of Juniper Bar and Restaurant and Bleu Northeast Seafood and Chef David Hugo of the Inn at Shelburne Farms will prepare "taste of the lake" hors d'oeuvres featuring delicious Lake Champlain fish.

Below is a complete listing of the of Land and Local speaker series at Shelburne Farms, and visit the full website for Of Land and Local events across the state - http://www.oflandandlocalvt.org/
